Privacy for Big Data

SCOPE

In the big data era, personal data is routinely collected and traded in the new economy. Since there are many benefits to the growth of big data analytics, privacy issues gain attractive attentions recently and the battle for privacy has already been fought. Big data means that data is a resource that can be used and reused, often in ways that were inconceivable at the time the data was collected, therefore, traditional privacy-preserving solutions often fail.
The 1st International Workshop on Privacy for Big Data (PBD 2016) brings together privacy experts from both the academia and industry all over the world to discuss state-of-the-art privacy technologies and new perspectives. PBD encourages novel practical and/or theoretical research including design, analysis, experimentation, or fielding of privacy-enhancing technologies for Big Data. Besides typical research areas such as anonymity systems and privacy-oriented cryptography, we strongly encourage submissions on a number of both well-established and emerging privacy-related topics for the Internet, some other digital systems and communication networks.

WORKSHOP AREAS

Suggested topics include but are not restricted to:

1. Differential privacy and big data
2. Measuring and quantifying privacy for big data
3. Game-theoretical approaches to big data privacy
4. Cryptographic tools for big data privacy
5. Privacy-preserving data mining
6. Privacy in ubiquitous computing and mobile devices
7. Privacy in cloud and social network applications
8. Privacy-enhanced access control, authentication and identity management

PAPER SUBMISSION

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. The papers should be in PDF format and submitted to niuben@iie.ac.cn. All accepted papers will appear in the proceedings of the IEEE DSC2016 conference. If accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the workshop to present the work.
